LETTERS TO AUNT SOPHIE VOL TWO
ABN Letters to Aunt Sophie
Sophie Halford, a nun from a North Yorkshire convent is studying medicine at Oxford. Her nephew, Luke Fenton, is starting life over again in Australia. Letters to Aunt Sophie is the continuation of their correspondence which began in 1975. Little did Sophie expect that in 1978 their correspondence would span continents and cultures and take her into places and situations that only the unsuspecting would ever dare venture into. Her medical studies at St. Hilda’s College, Oxford, begins quietly enough and happily as she makes friends with Margaret Oakley, daughter of Lord Oakley, with Priscilla an African nun, and Silvia, an Egyptian princess. But their little fraternity soon develops into an entente of the most dire resolve not only to protect their own lives but the innocent victims of unimaginable evil.
Letters to aunt Sophie 1978-9, is a crime odyssey that takes the reader into a world of political and scientific intrigue that is hard to imagine.

Oxford is windswept. The maple and oak leaves are blowing everywhere and the river is a floating carpet of autumn leaves. Silvia has never seen an English autumn. She says that she has only seen rain on television. In southern Egypt it never rains! Spring, summer, autumn and winter are barely different. ‘The sun shines ever day,’ she says, ‘and we have four or five harvests.’
How different that must be to living in England! Her father visited her last week. He arrived in a limousine with his film actress friend. Silvia who saw them from her upstairs window was repulsed and hid in our room. The prince, who inquired after his daughter at the college reception, waited in vain for his daughter to appear and Priscilla eventually approached him in the hall.
“Do you wish to see the princess?” she asked him?’”..........
